What the name says
Edano is short for European Digital Autonomy Network. European, because that is where the members and the technology are. Digital autonomy, because choosing your own supplier is exactly what got lost. Network, because this is not one new company but the ones already doing the work.

Market concentration
70%
of the European cloud market sits with three American companies
Amazon, Microsoft and Google together hold seventy per cent of the European cloud market. The share held by European providers fell from 29 per cent in 2017 to 15 per cent in 2022, and has stayed around that level since. The largest European players, SAP and Deutsche Telekom, sit at two per cent each.
That is not a reason to be against anything. It is the reason a European alternative has to be assembled from the companies that are already here, because no single one of them is going to close that gap alone.
